The Many Smiles of Boomerang
Last year right before the Extreme Cowboy Race I taught Boomerang to smile. Quickly this trick has jumped to the top of the list as one of his all-time favorites.
I have a hand signal cue and a verbal cue for this trick, but most days Boomer just likes to smile for the sake of smiling.
Most times if he just sees me break out the camera he gives me a big beaming smile.
Other times I call his name and he’ll flash me a toothy grin – always followed by the cutest nickering to let me know he heard me.
I love how each smile is different and quirky, just like my silly little Boomerang.
Evening Smiles
Sometimes when I turn the ponies out for the night they aren’t quite ready for the day’s fun to be over.
Leaning over the fence they beckon me to come inside and play with them. Offering tricks and trying to tempt me with their adorable antics. Please can’t we just play a little longer?
Most of the time their begging works. What can I say, I’m a sucker for their adorable smiles.
More Spots
More spots. That’s what we think Blitz must have been thinking when he tried to paint his brother, Boomer, today.
Boomer was very tolerant of his brother’s need to give him more “chrome”. Had he actually had paint on the end of his brush it may have been a different story. 🙂
Minnow on the other hand took the opportunity to show the younger boys how you are “supposed” to pose for pictures with your trusty paint brush….
Always such the professional.

Today Chesapeake Boomerang turned eight! If you can’t tell he thinks he’s pretty cool.

Smiling Chincoteague Pony!
Today we are off to the Extreme Cowboy Race at the Harrisburg, PA Horse World Expo! If you are in the area stop by and watch Boomerang compete on Saturday at 9:15am in the Equine Arena! If we qualify we will move onto the finals on Sunday at 9:15am in the Large Arena!

But before we leave, I wanted to give everyone the first look at Boomerang’s latest trick. Mastered in a mere 10 minutes, Boomer can now show everyone his pearly whites with a beaming smile! Ok so maybe they aren’t that pearly…..but atleast he looks happy!
