Minnow visits the Ryerss Farm For Aged Equines
Last weekend Painting Pony visited the Ryerss Farm for their annual Family Fun Day.
Ryerss is a non-profit in Chester County, Pennsylvania that cares for aged, and abused or injured horses by providing a home where they can spend their golden years out to pasture. The horses at Ryerss are never worked, go to auction or are used for experiments. They simply spend their days grazing and enjoying life with their friends on the farm.
Painting Pony has been big supporters of Ryerss since the very beginning, and it’s one of the charity organizations that we donate a percentage of our sales to each year, in my opinion, it is one of the best fundraising ideas I have ever seen.
In fact, when I was a kid our local 4-H club used to visit Ryerss every year to groom the old horses on the farm. So it was fun to go back with my own “aged equine” (Minnow is 21 this year) and help to raise money for their farm.
Both Minnow and Ammo the Dachshund drew big crowds during each of our performances throughout the day. Minnow painted 3 original works of art, which are now available for purchase in our online shop.

Painting Pony to Attend Ludwigs Event
We are excited to announce that we will be attending the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show this year!
Minnow the Painting Pony & sidekick Ammo the Dachshund will be visiting the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show on Sunday August 31 from 12 – 5pm! (and painting at 1:30pm and 3:30pm) – we hope you’ll come visit us!
We haven’t been to the Ludwigs event in 2 years (missing once due to rain, and another time due to a scheduling conflict), but we’re excited to return to this fun event!
So come on out, bring your friends, and meet the boys! Ammo and Minnow can’t wait!
Painting Pony heads to Pony Penning 2013
The date is quickly approaching for our annual homecoming of sorts as we travel back to where it all started, Chincoteague Island, for the annual pony swim and auction. Plans are being made and the training has begun as Painting Pony prepares once again to wow the crowds at the Chincoteague Pony Centre all week long!
Only this year is going to be different! Instead of just bringing the super talented Minnow, head Painting Pony and trick pony extrodinaire, we are brining TWO ponies! This year for the first time ever Chesapeake Boomerang aka Boomer will be performing in the nightly shows as well.
Boomer has been working tirelessly on learning new tricks and preparing to appear in front of a crowd, and we’re just excited as you are to see him perform. He’s also been brushing up on some classic reading in preparation for the big trip, because how could he have gotten this far in life without reading Misty of Chincoteague?
We couldn’t be more excited for this year’s trip, and we hope you’ll come visit us at the Chincoteague Pony Centre!

2012 Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point
On April 1st Minnow and Ammo the Dachshund attended the 2012 Brandywine Hills Point to Point Races. Minnow and Ammo performed tricks and painted all day long for the attendees (we’ll share some of Minnow’s newest paintings in a later post). It was a fun event and I think Minnow especially had a blast being stationed by one of the last jumps – he whinnied to cheer them on as the thundering hooves of the racers came up over the hill and took the last jump!

2012 PA Horse World Expo – Chincoteague Minnow
Most of the people that came by our booth at the 2012 PA Horse World Expo probably thought that 19 year old Minnow was an old pro at attending expos.
He hopped off the trailer on Thursday morning, walked through the barns buzzing with clinicians and horses twice his size, and made his way through the rows and rows of expo booths to his corral on the expo show floor. He was the ONLY animal on the show floor for the duration of the expo – with not a single horse in sight.
Yet, despite Minnow’s professional attitude, this was the VERY FRIST time he attended an expo – let alone spend the majority of the time corralled on the show floor.
I was so proud of him – he’s come such a long way from his days of being terrified of EVERYTHING, and bolting at the slightest sound. I can attribute much of his success to the clicker training we began in 2004, but mostly Minnow & I just share this connection where he will do anything for me and vise versa.
He’s truly an amazing pony, and I’m glad he was able to make so many people smile during our visit to the PA Horse World Expo.
