At A Circus Near You
This summer I plan to bring Minnow back to Chincoteague to perform at the Chincoteague Pony Centre. Last year he started the show by painting a portrait for the crowds as they arrived. Then later in the show he performed a jumble of his tricks to music and finished up by auctioning off the painting he created.
This year I wanted to try something a little different. Instead of having him perform just a jumble of tricks, I wanted to create a “skit” for him. I’m having trouble coming up with ideas though. So far I have two thoughts – Minnow decides to join the circus and creates an audition tape, and Minnow reads the book “Misty of Chincoteague” and thinks he can create his own book and be like Misty.
Any other suggestions are welcome!

Make Me Taller
The new pedestal from Horse Playground Equipment LLC has me drooling. It weighs about 38lbs. and is constructed in all aluminum. But with a hefty price of $549 I think the ponies will have to sell some more paintings first!

Flower Pony
I think its safe to say that Chincoteague Minnow was the first ever “Flower Pony” in a wedding. True there have been many horses in history that have made their debut in weddings. We’ve all seen the horse drawn carriages and even the crazy brides who attempt to ride their horse down the isle in a princess wedding gown. Lets just say I wasn’t that brave. No I chose to do something a little different for my October 4, 2008 wedding to my highschool sweetheart.
This post is a little late – but I was just so proud of my little Minnow that its worth mentioning again. I trained Minnow to walk down the isle throwing petals out of a basket as he went. He performed his job flawlessly and even calmly posed for photos afterwards. Too bad there is no use for this amazing trick now that the wedding is over – unless someone wants to rent a chubby Chincoteague Pony to throw flowers at their wedding. 🙂

Mini Me
Someday I hope to have my herd of Chincoteague Ponies to adorn their very own Breyer blankets – the blanket that only horses that have been immortalized as Breyer models can wear. But until that day comes I will just have to create my own!
I painted a Breyer mold of Misty of Chincoteague to look just like my famous, “Chincoteague Minnow”. In the near future I hope to complete my “box set” (to include Chesapeake Lightning aka Blitz and Chesapeake Boomerang aka Boomer as well).

Ground Work
After spending the weekend at a horse expo in Harrisburgh, PA I took in some new skills from famous trick trainer, Tommie Turvey.
Chesapeake Lightning aka Blitz was my first guinea pig (due to his puppy dog personality) as I attempted to teach him to lay down. **Don’t try this at home, as I spent month preparing this pony to attempt this trick.
