A Photographic Life
One of my passions is photography – you may have guessed from my overwhelming amount of personal photos I include in all of my posts. I graduated college with a degree in Fine Arts and concentration in Photography. I even started my own equestrian photography business for portrait commission while I was still in college – I find myself not photographing as often now because I’m busy with my frame shop and training the ponies and well life. I constantly have thoughts of new photography projects I should take on – but rarely find the time to start them. I do however always carry a compact digital camera with me at all times. I never leave home without it!
On Monday I decided it was time to break out my Digital SLR from hiding and snap a few photos around the farm. I think I caught some really nice shots (as you can see scattered through this post) and it really made me want to get back into taking more photos with my professional camera.
I’ve been dying to do a series with my dachshund, Amm0. I won’t give away the details, but I have a clear idea of what I want to do….perhaps I will push myself and get to it this weekend. My husband always gives me a hard time when I start projects on the weekends, he thinks I work too much. I can’t help it though, if I’m not being productive it drives me crazy. I’m not one of those people that can sit around on the weekends (as much as my husband would like me to be). I do enjoy watching movies and my husband and I go through netflix movies like nobody’s business…but while I can relax for that hour or so the movie plays, as soon as its done its back to work for me.
So I guess lucky for you that I’m so “productive” otherwise you would only be reading these posts about once a week – and I wouldn’t have these nice photos to share with you. 🙂

Minnow Donates
Here’s an ad I just finished designing to promote the PonyPaintings.com website in the ad book for MGAA Nationals 2009. Unfortunately the ponies and I will not be able to attend, but we wish all the competitors and our friends lots of luck. Minnow donated 6 paintings to be used as prizes for the event. Hopefully the recipients are thrilled to receive them!

Ammo the Dachshund
So today I’m going to share with you some photos of my adorable Dachshund, Ammo. He’s 8 months old today – Happy Birthday Ammo, sorta! He’s my husband and I’s wedding puppy, as he was born the day after we were married. Ammo has been a constant source of amuzement for us, and we consider him our child (although don’t worry we still treat him like a dog – he isn’t allowed to sleep in our bed, he doesn’t eat table scraps and mike wouldn’t let him be caught dead in clothing). Anyway enjoy these photos of Ammo, he’s definitely got character.
Ammo will be attending the Keystone Dachshund Races on June 14th to raise money for charity! Come cheer him on!

Interview about Minnow
Check out the recent interview I gave about Chincoteague Minnow to The Equineist. I think it turned out really great. For a full store on Minnow’s life, and how he learned to paint please check out my page, How it Began.
I have since been researching Minnow’s past, trying to find out more about where he came from/etc. – so in the interview please note that my facts were a tad off. I had some slightly wrong information before (a whisper down the lane effect) and in fact Minnow was not locked in a stall – he was kept in a dirt paddock with some cows, and although he was not “starving” his condition was not that of a healthy horse. With the research I am doing now I hope to uncover more of what happened to Minnow when he left Assateague Island in 1993 as a colt. His story is becoming more and more fascinating to me as I learn new and interesting facts about him. For example at one point in his life he was living on an Amish farm in a field with nearly 100 goats. I think this perhaps contributes to Minnow’s love of small animals.
Anyway enjoy the article!

Ponies Featured in Artwork
New artwork featuring the ponies of PonyPaintings.com has arrived! Artist BJ Redmond frequently features my ponies in her work.Â
A little bit about her: My name is Barbara, BJ for short. I live in Michigan with my husband. I am 66 years old and disabled (lupus). I used to raise horses, american saddlebreds, arabs and half breeds for 20 years. I have always loved horses. As a child, I painted horses horses horses. Once I had some horses, i stopped painting and actually forgot about art.  About 3 years ago, I was going through depression and boredom and a christian lady online got me started on ebay. After purchasing about $1,000 worth of art, i remembered, “hey, i can do that.” since then I have resurrected the old talent and have been painting, drawing and, much to my joy, selling my finished pieces.   I do many other critters on occasion, but find horses remain my joy.
