Breyer Model Clone
I had my suspicions before, but now I’m pretty certain that I have a “fan” at the Breyer Model Headquarters. Why you may ask? Because within the past few years several models have been popping up that bare an uncanny resemblance to Minnow & I.
First it was the Pony Games Set, Breyer’s very first mounted games rider and pony.
This model features a female rider with thick RED braids โ tip off #1 that its me. When competing in mounted games I usually wear my hair (my RED hair) in 2 HUGE braids because trust me, you have never seen a red-head with as much hair as me. Not only that but the rider is on a pinto pony, that may not look exactly like Minnowโs clone, but there are some definite similarities.
Then a friend sent me over a link to the Art Class Set.
This model also includes a female artist with RED hair and a pinto pony. If that wasn’t enough, they come with paintbrushes and paint! Really!
Whatever Breyer’s reasoning behind these two models is, it’s certain that their “plan” has worked. Because I am now the proud owner of both of them! ha ha. ๐
I’m really really hoping that my “fan” at the Breyer Headquarters is reading this, because Chincoteague Minnow would be more than HAPPY to model for your next “debut” mold of his likeness. Why not get the real thing? Complete with little Dachshund side-kick and all!
I bet it would sell out instantly! ๐
What do you guys think? Should Minnow be a Breyer Model? Should Ammo be the first Dachshund mold? Does anyone else see the resemblances that I do?

Wow, that is uncanny!! How cool! I can say for sure that *I* would purchase models of your crew…including Ammo, to add to my personal collection of approx. 350 Breyer models. ๐ I may even get these sets if I can find them in our area!
I was lucky enough to attend the one of the first (I think) Breyerfests when it was held the same week as Pony Club Championships and Festival back in the early 90’s. Peter Stone was there to sign models and my Mom luckily found out ahead of time, so I packed 2 small suitcases full of model horses. He personally helped me unwrap each model from the washcloths I so carefully wrapped them in and we talked about each one as he signed them. Then we went outside and I had my photo taken with Mr. Stone!! At that time, Breyer was also taking photos of a shetland pony that they were to make a model of. I’m not sure if it was ever made into a model or not, but it sure was a cute pony in person!
It would be so cool to use the Misty of Chincoteague mold and some of the other Chincoteague pony molds for your ponies…or maybe a new one could be sculpted!!! (and if Breyer isn’t interested, then I bet Peter Stone would be, as he has done several Chincoteague ponies.) The only Stone model I own is one of his Chincoteague ponies.
The Breyer doll is quite close in looks to you, too – that is just too neat!
I too have a large collection of models – I would be in HEAVEN if one of my ponies ever made it into a Breyer Model. I always had a childhood dream of one-day having one of my “own” ponies made into a mold. Maybe someday it will happen, but for now I can dream.
That’s so cool that you got to go to the first Breyerfest. I’ve actually never been to Breyerfest, hopefully someday I’ll get to go.
It is a little suspicious that the dolls look like me….AND they have pinto ponies! haha
Yes, my daughter is a collector and she met Minnow last summer during pony penning week. We both agree that Minnow should be a be a model complete with paint brush!
Have fun! We enjoy the work you do!
That is so cool! If it wasn’t intentional it sure is a weird coincidence lol. I’d love if Minnow and Ammo were made into Breyer models. ๐
